Our journey

2018

While in Zimbabwe, our founder couldn’t use his mobile money account because the two mobile money networks were not working together.

2019

We began to research possible solutions and hence WAKA was born.

2020 - 2021

We created our team, registered our start-up in Switzerland and in Tanzania. Currently finalizing our MVP.

2023

1) Summer launch of the MVP in Tanzania and Kenya
2) Prove product market fit and initial traction

2024

3) Full rollout in Tanzania and Kenya with MM licenses and stablecoins

2025

4) East Africa expansion, primarily Uganda, Rwanda “and Zambia
